Application deadline extended to February 1st 2020

With folded palms we invite participation of Bhikshunis of the Darmaguptaka Vinaya to join an international Varsa retreat in Shravasti India from July 1 – August 20, 2020. This historic gathering of Mahayana nuns is a rare opportunity to conduct the Varsa retreat where the Buddha did 25 Varsas. HH Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche is fully sponsoring all needs including travel.

We are happy to announce that Ven. Master Wu Yin, one of the foremost Vinaya instructors, will teach for 10 days on the precepts. In addition, Ven. Thubten Chodron will teach for a week on the Karmans and will lead the opening ceremonies. Ven. Gao Kai will teach the Posadha/Sojong ceremony and guide how to conduct all the rituals.  Ven. Jenkir will assist Ven. Wu Yin and teach one of the sections. Community discussion will parallel the Vinaya classes. Short retreat days will intersperse the transition between teachers. There will be silent retreat sections in the tradition of several schools, including the Silent Illumination method of Dharma Drum and HH Drikung Kyabon Chetsang Rinpoche’s curriculum based on the Anapanasati Sutra that was taught by the Buddha in Shravasti. We will include dedicated community discussion days using “open Space techniques; concluding the Varsa with short Dharma talks by the participants.
